The Capuchin Franciscan Volunteer Corps (Cap Corps) offers men and women the opportunity to work in direct service with the poor while living a simple lifestyle in community with other volunteers. The spirituality of Saint Francis of Assisi is central to this experience of community and service.
Community
Community
Cap Corps Volunteers live in community in the Franciscan spirit of mutuality and simplicity. Volunteers energize and support one another on their call to live the Gospel by sharing the joys and sorrows of their daily life experiences, as well as the necessary house chores, such as cooking, shopping and cleaning.
Living Simply
Living Simply
Cap Corps volunteers live on a small monthly stipend and in low-icome neighborhoods to become aware of the daily realities of those with whom they work. Living simply helps volunteers define a lifestyle in concert with the mission of the Capuchin Franciscan friars and shapes their decisions on how to spend their resources of time, talent and money.
Spirituality
Spirituality
Cap Corps volunteers commit to daily communal prayer with each other as a way to deepen their faith life and to support each other's service. The year includes retreats, opportunities for spiritual direction, resources on Franciscan spirituality, and friar visits to support and encourage volunteers' faith life
