Chapel Dedication Reveals New Mural

The parish of St. Ambrose in Baltimore, MD, recently dedicated their Sacred Heart Alcove as a new chapel.

Pastor Fr. Paul Zaborowski, OFM Cap. led the dedication of the new Sacred Heart Chapel on Sunday, May 4. Dominican Sr. Mary Grace Thul, OP, of New Castle, DE, designed the images which surround the existing statue of the Sacred Heart.

Jesus the Good Shepherd and Our Lady of the Divine Shepherd flank the sides of the chapel as six Franciscan Saints are displayed at the mural's center: Francis of Assisi, Clare of Assisi, Pio of Pietrelcina, Marianne Cope, Katherine Drexel (a Tertiary Franciscan!) and the Capuchin Venerable Solanus Casey. Lambs (and cats!) form an important part of the pastoral setting with Our Lady dressed in traditional southern shepherd garb.

The Gallery of pictures show the mural from various angles, and a beautiful video of the dedication follows at the bottom of the page. Our thanks go to Mr. Arthur Swint for his work on the photos and video!
