Major Superiors meet in Pittsburgh

The Conference of Major Superiors of Men met in Pittsburgh last weekend.  Our brother John Pavlik, OFM Cap., CMSM Executive Director,  was on all cylinders for the meeting.

Above is a shot of the Capuchin representatives at the annual event.  From left: Brs. Andrew McCarty, Francis Gasparik (New York/New England Province, Provincial), John Pavlik, Bishop John Corriveau (former Minister General & now Bishop of Nelson, BC, Canada), David Nestler (our Minister Provincial), Reynaldo Frias-Santana, Tage Danielson, Michael Marigliano (NY/NE Province) Matt Hindelang and Juan Antonio Ortiz

Br. David was the main celebrant and homilist for the feast of St. Dominic on August 8, and five friar students attended to a number of tasks at the request of of the CMSM Executive Secretary - all well done, we hear - driving to and from the airport, registering attendees, interviewing various superiors and - overall - just looking good. Thanks to our Br. Matt Hindelang for all the photos.

StAUG Corriveau       Since he was in town, our brother Bishop John Corriveau dropped by St. Augustine Friary in Pittsburgh on Thursday evening, August 7. He had given a talk earlier in the day to the CMSM meeting and decided to join the friars for dinner. Br. John’s visit was a delightful surprise for our friars. With John's 12-year tenure as our Minister General in Rome (1995-2007), the friars were eager to catch up with Bp John - who also did his post-novitiate with our friars at Cap College in Washington, DC as a friar student (a while ago).

John began his long journey back to British Columbia on Friday morning, August 8. In the photo, seated from left: our brothers DePaul Ripko, DeSales Young, Bonaventure Stefun, John Corriveau and Bertin Roll. Standing from left are: Leon Leitem. Francis Fugini, Vernon Busch, James Gavin, Regis Schlick, Gervase Degenhardt, Robert Craig and Guardian Phil Fink.
